Types of Custom Metal Fabrications

Contract Assembly

Contract assembly is done on a per-project basis on a fixed price. We offer projects of all sizes. Depending on the project and on the contract arrangements, the we will either work off-site and deliver the product or will visit the site and perform the work on site.

Metal bending and forming

Machines like hydraulic press brakes are generally used to perform metal forming. This process is carried out with shaped dies and mandrels which help to bend tubular sections without twisting them. Rolling machines are commonly used to convert a plate steel into a round section.

Plasma/Water Jet Cutting

The process involves a plasma torch used to cut varied thickness of metal, especially steel with a high level of accuracy. With the help of a combination of inert gas and electricity, a high powered stream of pressure is created which is capable of melting metal and concurrently blowing it away just before it can dry into the cut. We can transform your ideas into products by the process of bending, milling, cutting, drilling, turning, grinding and threading. The processes are:

  • Forging - Work pieces are formed by compressive force at a high temperature in this process. Parts like crankshafts, connecting rods, gears and bolt heads are made by forging.
  • Rolling - It reduces the thickness of a long work piece. This is done by compressive forces where a set of rolls are being used. Vessels and sheets used for automobiles and aircrafts, plates used for machine structures, appliances for your kitchen and furniture for your home d├ęcor are all generated from rolling. Water jet or laser cutters are often used to cut rolled metal.
  • Extrusion - During this process a compressive force is applied to a RAM due to which the round billets are forced through one or more dies. The extruded piece which emerges takes a desired shape. This particular process is generally used to create cylindrical bars or hollow tubes. However, more extrusive metals like aluminum are generally used to give shape to irregular cross sections.
  • Drawing - In this process a metal piece is pulled through a die which has a tapered bore which is applied on the exit side by means of a distensible force. Products like rod, wire and tubes are commonly fabricated by drawing.
